Curse of the Waking Dread

    Purpose:

The Curse of the Waking Dread is designed to instill an overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety in the target. It brings about a constant feeling of impending doom and dread that follows the person throughout their waking hours, making them feel uneasy, paranoid, and afraid of unknown threats. This curse is especially useful for someone who has caused emotional harm, instilling a sense of the fear they may have caused in others.

    Materials:

    • A black candle
    • A small jar or vial
    • A handful of dried rosemary (symbol of protection, turned to anxiety)
    • A piece of obsidian or black stone (to hold the fear)
    • A piece of paper and a black pen
    • A needle or pin
    • A small lock of your own hair (for anchoring your intent)
    • A black cloth or small bag
    • A bowl of salt for protection

    Timing:

Perform this curse at midnight during the waning moon, when energies are in retreat, ensuring the target’s peace and sense of safety will diminish over time.

    Procedure:

    1. Prepare the Space:
      • Light the black candle in a dim room. Set the materials in front of the candle, creating a focused area for the ritual.
      • Sprinkle a circle of salt around yourself and your workspace to protect yourself from any negative energy or backlash from the curse.
    2. Focus Your Intent:
      • Take the piece of paper and write the target’s full name and the word that represents what they did to cause harm, such as “Fear,” “Cruelty,” or “Terror.”
      • Close your eyes and picture the target feeling overwhelmed by fear and dread. Imagine them constantly looking over their shoulder, gripped by a feeling of impending doom. Let your emotions fuel the image of their growing anxiety and terror.
    3. Infuse the Rosemary:
      • Sprinkle the dried rosemary over the paper. Rosemary is traditionally used for protection, but in this curse, it will serve to bring the target a sense of constant anxiety instead of peace.
      • Add the black stone or obsidian on top of the rosemary. This stone will absorb and hold the fear, magnifying it within the target. As you place it, say:

Stone of fear, hold tight this dread,
By waking light, their heart is led.
No peace will come, no rest be found,
As dread and fear circle ’round.

    1. Bind the Curse:
      • Take a lock of your own hair and wrap it around the stone and rosemary, symbolizing your connection and control over the curse. Fold the paper tightly around the ingredients, binding your intent.
      • Place the folded paper, rosemary, stone, and hair into the small jar or vial. Seal it tightly.
    1. Charge the Curse:
      • Using the needle or pin, prick your finger and let a single drop of blood fall into the jar or onto the folded paper. If you prefer not to use blood, black ink can be a substitute. This seals the curse with your energy. As you do this, say:

Blood of mine, seal their fate,
Fear and dread shall never abate.
    Waking terror, night and day,
By this curse, they’ll lose their way.

    1. Sealing the Dread:
      • Close the jar or vial and wrap it in the black cloth or place it inside a small black bag. This will contain the curse and ensure the dread is trapped inside, ready to be released upon the target.
      • Hold the jar in your hands and visualize the target being consumed by fear, feeling constantly anxious and unable to relax. Focus all your intent on filling the jar with this energy.
    1. Hide or Bury the Curse:
      • Bury the jar or vial in a dark, hidden place, preferably near the target’s home or a place they frequent. If you cannot bury it, hide it in a secret, undisturbed location. As you bury or hide it, say:

Buried deep, your dread shall grow,
In waking hours, fear you’ll know.
No peace, no calm, no safety near,
    Only constant growing fear.
    So mote it be.

    1. End the Ritual:
      • Snuff out the black candle (don’t blow it out) to signify the extinguishing of the target’s sense of safety. Scatter the salt from your protective circle outside your home to release any lingering negative energy from the ritual.
      • Wash your hands in cold water to disconnect yourself from the curse.
    2. Cleansing and Protection:
      • Burn sage or protective herbs to cleanse the space after the ritual. This will ensure that the energy of dread does not follow you and that you remain protected.

    Completion:

The Curse of the Waking Dread will gradually take hold, causing the target to feel an increasing sense of unease, fear, and paranoia. Over time, the target will feel as though they are constantly in danger, even though the threat is unseen, making them anxious and jumpy throughout their waking life.

    Final Note:

This curse should be used with caution, as it can have a powerful effect on the target’s mental and emotional well-being. Always protect yourself during and after casting, and consider the consequences before invoking such deep fear.

A haunting scene depicting the "Curse of the Waking Dread." A black candle burns low on a dark, weathered wooden table, its flame flickering weakly. Surrounding the candle are symbols drawn in chalk, representing fear and anxiety. A small jar filled with herbs and a piece of paper with a name written on it sits beside the candle, sealed and ready to invoke the curse. The dim light casts eerie shadows, creating a sense of looming dread and unease. The atmosphere is heavy with tension, as if the curse has already begun to take effect.
